A few months ago, while attempting to determine the direction God has for me now in retirement from my state job (after 28 years), I got a call from my nephew, and he said this. “Uncle Chris you should start doing a podcast, and you should call it “Talkin the Walk. Due to all your experience as a Christian, being in the service, formerly working as a paramedic, your twenty-eight years of work, and your knowledge of the Bible, your keen interest in American Military History and desire to interview veterans, and walking with the Lord, this would really be up your alley.”
I was immediately drawn to this idea, and overwhelmed with the potential of impact that it could have in encouraging fellow believers. We had been intently seeking the Lord for what I should be doing in my extra time in retirement.
I told Amy about my nephews call and idea and she seemed to think that it was a good idea. A couple of days later she had a wonderful idea for a logo for this. “You should have a cross behind a pair of combat boots with a microphone sticking out of one of the boots.” I saw both items as absolute conformation from the Holy Spirit to proceed with this idea.
Currently I know that am nowhere near ready to do an ongoing podcast. However, in the idea’s infant stages of this endeavor I am doing this from the aspect of it being a vlog about my experiences in Christ. I am looking forward to seeing what God can do with something like this. Now in many ways I am perplexed about it. For one, it seems like there are already a million vlogs and podcasts out there and available to the viewer. Two for it to be and look professional it might be more of a monetary investment than I am ready for right now. But I am proceeding in faith that God can use me in this capacity.
